THE Philippine National Police (PNP) has released the budget intended for the yearend bonus of its personnel.
PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde said about P7 billion was allotted for the 2018 yearend bonus of 191,619 active uniformed and non-uniformed PNP personnel nationwide.
The yearend bonus is equivalent to the amount of the monthly basic salary of a personnel together with the mandated P5,000 cash gift from the national government.
Albayalde said the yearend bonus has been credited to the payroll accounts of each civilian and uniformed police personnel through the Land Bank of the Philippines.
Albayalde said, however, that the yearend bonuses for PNP personnel with pending administrative and criminal cases have been put on hold as part of PNP disciplinary policy.
Meanwhile, a party-list lawmaker appealed to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to extend the 14th-month-pay incentive to the private sector employees and to the more than 600,000 job order and contractual personnel in the government.
According to the DBM, government employees are due to receive their 14th month pay and a cash bonus of P5,000 staring Thursday, November 15.
Kabayan Party-list Representative Ron Salo said the private sector employees and the "endo" employees in the government should not be left out.
Salo noted that 27 percent or 660,000 employees of the total 2.42 million government workers are not regular.
Salo is the principal author of House Bill 8095 An Act Mandating 14th Month Pay For All Employees In The Government And Private Sector Regardless Of Status Of Employment.
The bill, filed last August 15, has been pending before the House committee on labor and employment. (SunStar Philippines)
