Artifacts, memorabilia donated to Zambo museum

SEVERAL artifacts and historical memorabilia have made their way to the El Museo de Zamboanga.

Architect Ildefonso Torres, Jr., City Museum curator, said the addition of new items to the museum’s collection through the generous donation of several families.

Torres said they included the Camins family, the Dulaca family, the Natividad family in Manicahan, the Orendain family, and the Tamayo family.

Torres said these artifacts included a wooden grinder, alfajor shape-container, mortar, wooden basin, water filter, mascota, and others.

Torres said in addition to the artifacts, the Museo was also able to collect memorabilia, mementos, and historical photos.

He said the city museum is engaged in almost daily research and collection activities in line with directives from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) to build up the local registry and historical database.

He added that the Museo is also a Heritage Information Center which provides historical and cultural information in the region. (SunStar Philippines)
