RECOGNIZING the demand for new and on-trend designs especially among its millennial clients, Havaianas has introduced a stylish strap in Bacolod City through this year’s edition of its “Make Your Own Havaianas” (MYOH).

During the opening of the 2018 MYOH at All Flip Flops in SM City Bacolod on November 16, Antoinette Lacson, managing director and sub-distributors of Havaianas in Western Visayas, said that the strap with print is a brand new addition to the biggest flip-flop customization event in the country.

Another new thing this year is having a rainbow embellishment wherein part of the proceeds goes to Save the Children, a non-profit organization that provides relief and support to children in developing countries, she added.

“MYOH is a nationwide event, and it’s the first time we do it in November,” she said, adding that “usually we do it in the summer months but we wanted to catch the happiest season this year which is Christmas.”

Now on its ninth year, the event in Bacolod City will run from November 15 to 20. In Iloilo City, it will be on November 22 to 26.

Lacson said MYOH is a venue for Havaianas users to make their own designs, make and match soles and straps, and embellish them with pins.

The stylish strap is a new design from Havaianas in Brazil. The pins, meanwhile, are all based on what the on-trend for millennials this year, Lacson said.

“We are still the top flip-flop brand. When you ask people what kind of flip-flops they buy, Havaianas is top of mind,” she said, adding that “we are still very durable, most fashionable, and most comfortable.”

In Western Visayas, there are at least six Havaianas store branches. Of which, two are in Bacolod City.

Moreover, the firm assured that this year’s MYOH offers customers hundreds of options to customize their own pair of Havaianas.

This year’s commemorative sole features a re-imagined version of the camo pattern with banana leaves against a deep blue background, it said.

“This event also debuts a commemorative slim strap. Covered in the same print as the sole, it can be matched with a multitude of colors for an eclectic chic look,” it added.
