CNU launches research institutes for public use

IN celebration of Cebu Normal University’s (CNU) 115th foundation anniversary, the state university launched its five research institutes during the REXCon 2018 (Research and Extension Congress) at SM Seaside Center Stage last Oct. 25.

CNU established five innovative research institutes led by different research directors. These research institutes aim to help the local community face global challenges and shape society as well. The researchers believe that academic research must be utilized rather than displayed on bookshelves.

The five research institutes are for innovative instructional delivery, computational mathematics and physics, ageing and health, public governance, and tropical biology and pharmacological biotechnology.

The Research Institute in Computational Mathematics and Physics came up with both theoretical and practical advancements in the field of mathematics.

The Research Institute for Ageing and Health, on the other hand, focuses on innovations in the field of gerontology and public health. It promotes the capability of the aging population to cope with a dynamic environment.

The Research Institute for Public Governance specializes in local governance that is attuned to the peculiarities of the socio-environmental, economic and political conditions in the southern Philippines. It aims to empower local government officials through research and training services.

Developing home-grown technologies and providing educational training services in tropical biology and pharmacological biotechnology is the focus of the Research Institute for Tropical Biology and Pharmacological Biotechnology.

With these research institutes, CNU stays true to its vision of being a multi-disciplinary research university, helping guide the community toward positive change. CIT-U Intern Michael Rey Cortes
