6 LGUs in Tarlac receive good governance award

A TOTAL of six local government units (LGUs) in Tarlac province received the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) award from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Recipients include the provincial government and municipal governments of Moncada, Gerona, Pura, Paniqui, Victoria, and Capas.

“For 2018, the assessment featured an All-In-Scheme wherein all the seven indicators must be met by LGUs, unlike the previous years when they should pass all four core areas and comply with at least one of the essential indicators,” DILG Provincial Director Belina Herman said.

Indicators include financial administration, social protection, disaster preparedness, peace and order, environmental management, business friendliness and competitiveness, and tourism, culture, and the arts.

“SGLG assessors who evaluated our province were from the Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division of Bicol Region who made rounds to personally gauge the compliance of the local government along the indicators of this year’s SGLG,” Herman added.

Aside from the Plaque of Recognition, SGLG passers are entitled to the Performance Challenge Fund, a financial grant that may be used to fund development projects worth P3.2-million for each municipality and P7- million for the provincial government. (PIA-Central Luzon)
