PHL suffers shutout on 2nd day

AFTER taking a silver medal on the opening day last Nov. 15, the Philippines went quiet on the second day in the 2018 World Poomsae Taekwondo Championships in Taipei City, Chinese-Taipei.

The closest the Philippines had to a medal on the second day was Kobe Macario, who finished fourth in the Freestyle Individual Male Under-17 event. Macario scored 6.360 and finished behind gold medalist William Arroyo of Mexico (7.260), Kim Tea-Kyung of Korea (6.980), Michael Knyazhev of Ukraine (6.460) and Nathaniel Cromwell of the USA (6.420).

Rodolfo Reyes Jr. exited in the Round-of-16 of the Recognized Poomsae Individual Male Under-30 event. He beat Sweden’s Zaur Aslakhanov and Canada’s Lee Samuel, before losing to Thai Pongporn Suvittayarak with a score of 7.150 to 7.420.

The Philippines also got eliminated in the opening round of the Recognized Poomsae Team Male Cadet, Recognized Poomsae Team Female Junior and Recognized Poomsae Team Female Cadet events. EKA
