Rains expected as 'Samuel' approaches VisMin

WITH Tropical Depression Samuel (international name Toraji) now within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the state weather bureau announced that tropical cyclone warning signals may be raised in the eastern section of the Visayas and Mindanao Sunday night and Monday morning, November 18 and 19.

The weather disturbance entered PAR at 10 a.m. Sunday, November 18.

In its 11 a.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said moderate to heavy rains which may trigger flooding and lanslides may prevail over Caraga region, Davao Oriental and Compostela Valley Monday morning.

The Visayas, Palawan and Occidental Mindoro will have partly cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

With maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph, Samuel is moving west southwest and is forecast to move to Surigao del Sur and Surigao del Norte Monday and Tuesday morning, November 20.
