Lions Club gets DepEd recognition

THE Angeles City Clark Balibago Lions Club (ACCBLC) was feted last Wednesday, November 14, in a stakeholders’ summit hosted by the Department of Education (DepEd) City Schools Division of Mabalacat.

The awarding was held at the Grace Crown Hotel in Angeles City and was also attended by Mabalacat Mayor Cris Garbo.

Superintendent Dr. Ma. Irelyn Tamayo said that the joint efforts of government and the private sector in contributing to the welfare of students of the city were highlighted in the programs of the organization.

As a partner of the DepEd and the city for many years, the Lions Club was given recognition for the many initiatives and projects it has rendered to the 40 primary and 15 secondary schools under its jurisdiction.

Notably, the club's Sight for Kids project screening all 30,214 elementary pupils and subsequent awarding of prescription spectacles to 791 students, as well as the various medicines and materials donations, and feeding programs rendered to its many schools were underscored.

Tamayo led the awarding and gave tribute to the importance of the ACCBLC’s activities.

“The activities of the Lions Club are in sync with the mission/vision of the Department of Education in rendering a multisectoral approach in the rearing and education of our learners,” she said.

In his message, club president Sol Flores, Jr. thanked Tamayo and the division for the distinction.

"Our Lions Club has always been proud to work with the DepEd at all levels and in different capacities," Flores emphasized, "as we continue our decades-old partnership, we remain committed to deliver more projects for the youth of Mabalacat."
