CEBU City Police Office (CCPO) operatives on Sunday dawn, Nov. 18, seized 3.3 kilos of “shabu” worth P39 million, their biggest haul in a single drug bust in the past 10 months.

The contraband was confiscated by personnel of the Pardo Police Station following the arrest of Jeffrey Jade Cabaron, 25, in Sitio Caimito, Barangay Tisa, where he was renting a room.

CCPO’s anti-narcotics operations on Nov. 8, 10 and 15 also seized P13 million worth of shabu.

Senior Supt. Royina Garma, CCPO director, said Cabaron’s name surfaced after several pushers, who were caught in past operations, identified him as their supplier.

Pardo Police Station Chief Regino Maramag said Cabaron had been identified as a high-value target.

Tisa Barangay Captain Phillip Zafra welcomed the police operation, but he said he was disappointed that there are still pushers in the barangay despite the campaign against illegal drugs.

“Considering this development, we will be conducting an investigation as to when he rented the place, who are his cohorts and what is the extent of his operation in our barangay. We will be coordinating with our authorities over this matter,” he told Superbalita Cebu.

Zafra said apartment owners should check the background of their renters and report to the police any person with suspicious actions.

“We are calling on once again, for the nth time, those in the business of renting houses, apartments and the like, to please check the background of their tenants and to immediately report to our barangay or any authorities for that matter if they look and/or act suspiciously,” he said in a press statement.

For her part, Garma said they will update the list of Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council in each barangay to easily identify the drug personalities.

Different units under the CCPO succeeded in seizing illegal drugs worth millions in the past days.

Last Nov. 15, shabu worth P8.4 million was seized in a string of drug busts. The biggest haul that day happened in Sitio Tierra Cura, Barangay Tejero, where 380 grams of shabu worth P4.4 million were confiscated.

On D. Jakosalem St., police confiscated shabu that weighed 155 grams worth P1.8 million on Nov. 10. Two days earlier, a wife of a jailed big-time pusher and her cohorts were caught inside a hotel on Gorordo Ave., yielding P5.2 million worth of shabu.

Cabaron will be facing complaints for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Selling shabu is a non-bailable offense and punishable by life imprisonment. (With HBL of SuperBalita Cebu)
