Grab driver swallows sachets of shabu in drug bust

A DRIVER of transport network vehicle service (TNVS) Grab swallowed several sachets of illegal drugs when he was arrested in a drug bust in Cubao, Quezon City on Sunday evening, November 18.

Kristofer Jay Gavino, 37, was arrested around 9 p.m. Sunday, November 18, inside an apartelle in Barangay San Roque, Cubao.

He swallowed an undetermined number of sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu), according to Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director Joselito Esquivel.

Esquivel said the joint police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) team that conducted the drug bust also confiscated nine small sachets of shabu from Gavino.

Grab Philippines, in a statement, said Gavino is temporarily blocked from their system. If found guilty, he will forever be banned from service.

“Grab does not tolerate any criminal activity by any of our partners. We will fully cooperate with any investigation through our security and safety team,” Leo Gonzales, Public Affairs head of Grab, said.

“Grab will not take things like this lightly. The safety of our passengers and drivers is of uttermost importance,” he added. (SunStar Philippines)
