A YOUNG lady from Barangay San Nicolas, San Simon was crowned this year’s Mutya Ning San Simon during the coronation night held at the Nuestra Señora del Pilar Parish grounds on Thursday evening.

Twenty-one-year-old Mikhaela Paderna is now set to represent this industrial town in the prestigious Mutya Ning Kapampangan 2018 pageant after besting 12 other candidates who vied for the Mutya Ning San Simon 2018 title.

Asked about her winning factor, Paderna cited her “genuine compassion to represent and bring pride to my municipality in beauty pageants and in any other possible gatherings.”

And aside from representing San Simon in the provincial beauty pageant Mutya ning Kapampangan, Mayor Leonora Wong said Paderna will also become an official youth ambassadress for tourism and arts of the municipality.

“If she can come up with programs for youth development, or any other promotional activities that will benefit her fellow Simonians and the community, she is assured of the support of the local government and the mayor,” she said.

Meanwhile, former mayor Rodrigo “Digos” Canlas, who joined in the celebration, lauded the determination of the lady candidates in achieving their goal of not only showcasing their wit and talent, but also in representing their municipality.

“This is a competition. There will always be a winner and a loser but I still want to congratulate everybody for their participation and their willingness to represent their respective barangays, and later on San Simon in the Mutya Ning Kapampangan 2019,” Canlas said.

Meanwhile, crowned third runner-up was Barangay San Pedro’s Almira Batu, second runner-up was Shaniella Eunice Alvaran of Barangay San Agustin, and Barangay San Pablo Propio’s Liliane Claire Rotap was Mutya Ning San Simon first runner-up.
