ASIDE from the 12 new patrol cars donated by the Republic of Korea (ROK) to the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Monday, November 19, 40 units of motorcycles are expected to be turned over next year.

The motorcycle donation is part of the program implementation of the ROK and the Korean National Police Agency (KNPA) to enhance the criminal investigation capacity of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

ROK Honorary Consul in Davao Edgar N. Ang told reporters Monday that the 12 new Elantra patrol cars and two Starex vans given to the DCPO were part of the 100 new patrol cars donated by the ROK to the country.

“In the pipeline, 100 units of motorcycles naman. It is not yet in the country but hopefully it will be in the country by next year and I believe that Davao City will get 40 of that,” Ang said.

Meanwhile, DCPO head Police Superintendent Alexander Tagum said the donated patrol cars will form part of the expanded patrol groups which will be deployed in the 12 areas of the police stations.

The daily supervision will be 24/7 in all strategic areas in the city.

He also said that it will be equipped with radio for communication and linked to the Central 911 Command Center.

“At any given time, kapag may tumawag sa Central 911, we are assured na anywhere in Davao City may magre-responde po dahil naka-tie up po yan sa command center ng Central 911,” Tagum said.

“Before, yung ating mobile patrol operations were only concentrated in downtown area, sa ating matatawag na commercial center ng Davao,” he said, adding that through the patrol cars, the DCPO will now be able to expand the coverage of the Mobile Patrol Group (MPG).
