SOME 500 Dabawenyos will benefit from the P4.7-million fund released by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to the City Government of Davao.
A total of 200 beneficiaries will be listed under the DOLE Kabuhayan Starter Kit Program and another 300 beneficiaries will be under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged or Displaced Workers (Tupad) Program.
“This fund is intended for the DOLE Kabuhayan Starter Kits Project which includes hair dressing, bread and pastries, food processing and welding and weaving,” Dole Davao City field office chief Erlinda Mamitag said during the flag ceremony Monday, November 19.
The Starter Kits Project is a livelihood formation strategy that will provide livelihood starter kits to the unemployed.
Tupad beneficiaries will be provided with employability enhancement training.
Meanwhile, Mamitag said that the beneficiaries will come from Matina Pangi, Talomo, Catalunan Grande, Dumoy, Balioc, Bago Ushiro, Toril, Carmen, Tugbok and Lasang.
The amount released was part of the Bottom-Up Budgetting (BUB) of DOLE.
“This will be the chance of the beneficiaries in Davao City to shine as new entrepreneurs," she said.
