ONE of the renowned certified zumba instructors here in Cagayan de Oro, Zin Ademar Maandig (zumba instructor network member), got in touch with me over the weekend seeking help for his project—Zumba for a Cause.

The event, featuring other CDO Zins, is slated from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, at the Centrio activity center. This is for the benefit of a stage 3 cervical cancer patient, Margaret Rochelle Rellesiva. For only P99, you can dance your heart out and help out.

It was a request I could not refuse because Boyet is the first instructor that introduced me into this dance type of workout in year 2011. Zumba really feels more like a party than exercise. Boyet’s passion for zumba is contagious, so it’s really not surprising that he has a lot of loyal clients that follow him wherever he goes from as far as Butuan, Iligan, Bukidnon, Cebu, Manila, Davao, etc.

In year 2017, Boyet was able to dance with Pedro Camacho (International Zumba Presenter) and Jay Bauzon (Dubai International All Star) in Singapore. Boyet was one of the few Pinoys who made it onto the stage at the Lion City. Dancing with these two zin masters, who are both popular for doing zumba tours in different countries, is no mean feat.

Boyet’s Singapore gig did not come as surprise to his followers. Zin “Ademz” is truly capable of representing the Philippines in the international arena because he is talented and passionate about his craft. In fact, he was already able to dance with Beto Perez in Manila a few years. Beto is a Colombian dancer who happens to be credited as the founder of Zumba.

On top of that, Boyet was able to further his craft by getting his certification for Pound Fitness. Zin Boyet has made a lot of friendships throughout his career, so when one of his loyal clients Margaret Rochelle Rellesiva was diagnosed with Stage 3 cervical cancer, he immediately mobilized his team to set-up an event for her benefit. He was compelled to help her out because the procedures are not only painful but expensive.

Boyet said: “Silang duha ng iyang identical twin, avid zumba goers gyud. For many years na nako sa kaila. Surprise kaayo ni nga diagnosis. She really needs help!” (She and her identical twin are avid zumba goers. I’ve known them for many years. Her diagnosis was a surprise.)

Right now, according to Zin Boyet, Margaret is confined in the hospital. Her cancer is stage 3, which means it has spread from the cervix to the structures around it. She is facing a long battle with surgery, chemotherapy, and other procedures to beat the cancer. She definitely needs all the help and support she can get.

For those who want to make a donation, you can get in touch with Margaret Rochelle Rellesiva on her FB page with the same name. Prayers for her swift recovery are also very much welcome. C’mon prayer warriors we can storm heaven with our prayer intentions for her speedy recovery!

Again, you can also buy tickets to Zin Boyet’s Zumba for a Cause for only P99. Get your tickets now from Boyet (contact him at 09556403008) or during the event! See you this Wednesday, November 21, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Centrio Mall, Activity Center. Stay healthy, keep fit, and dance your stress away!
