2 new routes mulled

THE Cebu City Government might expand its free bus ride program to other parts of the city so it can cater to more night workers and commuters.

Nanette Garong, head of the City Call Center Program, said they plan to open a new route from the mountain barangay to the Cebu IT Park and another route for commuters from the south district.

For now, she said, they are focusing uptown because it is considered a high-risk area for commuters at night.

Last Saturday, Nov. 17, the City opened a new bus route from Barangays Pit-os, Bacayan and Talamban to the IT Park.

The pickup point is at Flying V gas station in Pit-os, and the bus will go to both the Ayala and IT Park terminals.

The bus is available from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. It will be at Flying V every hour.

Garong reminded those who will avail themselves of the free shuttle program to wait at designated bus stops.

She also stressed that the buses will also accommodate other commuters aside from call center agents. (RTF)
