NegOcc guv leads Capitol meeting for investment program

NEGROS Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. led the formulation meeting of the Provincial Development Investment Program (PDIP) for the year 2020–2022, which was attended by the department and office heads.

The three-day activity which started Monday, November 19, is held at Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City.

The heads will also be preparing a project proposal for the planned projects and programs of their respective departments and offices as reflected in the PDIP.

Marañon discussed the successful programs that have touched the lives of many Negrenses, particularly the Negros Occidental Comprehensive Health Program (NOCHP).

He also cited the diversification effort that started during the term of the late governor Joseph Marañon, making Negros Occidental number one in swine, poultry and sheep production.

He also lauded the scholarship program of the province and the recent award given to the Negros Occidental Language and IT Center (NOLITC) as outstanding Tech4ED Center in the country.

The governor requested the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) to study the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the province because of the many economic activities in Negros Occidental.

Marañon also said he is concerned with the progress of Negros Occidental and urged the department and office heads to continue praying for the province and for the young people, being the hope of the future.

Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Ma. Lina Sanogal presented the Provincial Development Priorities prior to the workshop. (PR)
