A WOMAN was found dead at a canal in Barangay Ayungon, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental Monday morning, November 19.
Police identified the fatality as Merlyn Villamar, 26, of San Enrique town.
The victim was half-naked when found by residents at 8:45 a.m.
She also sustained head injuries, a sign she was probably hit by a stone.
Authorities recovered the clothes and undergarments few meters away from the victim.
Also recovered at the crime scene was a stone.
Police believed that the victim may have been sexually abused by an unidentified man.
She was subjected for an autopsy to determine the cause of her death.
The investigation is ongoing.
