NCCA: Haligi ng Dangal Awards to reward architectural works

THE National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) through its National Committee on Architecture and the Allied Arts is set to launch the second year of Haligi ng Dangal Awards on November 28, at the Ayuntamiento de Manila, Intramuros, Manila.

Haligi ng Dangal is a biennial award given to completed works in Architecture and its Allied Professions, namely: Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, and Town and Environmental Planning. It jointly commemorates the exemplary structure or site, and its licensed designers.

Haligi ng Dangal aims to acknowledge exemplary work and encourage the sustenance of the Filipino spirit, the development and improvement of the Filipino built environment and enhancement of the awareness of the role of design and designers, particularly that of architecture and its allied professions, in the social, economic and environmental development of the Philippines.

It also demonstrates that good design is a major component of the positive influence on the human environment, and that the physical development of the built environment in the Philippines can be integrated with the cultural values, national identity or the natural environment of our nation.

Haligi ng Dangal will have one (1) winner each in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, Town and Environmental Planning, and one (1) winner for People’s Choice which will be determined by online public vote, to receive a medal, plaque, and a cash prize.
