Doctor shot dead in Guihulngan

A MEDICAL chief of Canlaon District Hospital in Canlaon City, Negros Oriental was gunned down by three unidentified men on a red motorcycle along the national highway of Sitio Tinangon, Barangay Basak, Guihulngan City Tuesday morning, November 20.

Killed was Dr. Adelex Amor, a resident of Dumaguete City.

Senior Superintendent Raul Tacaca, provincial director of Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (Norppo), said the victim and his companion, on board a Toyota Vios, were on their way to Dumaguete City when they slowed down and stopped at the said area.

Just as Amor disembarked from his vehicle to urinate, the gunman approached and shot him several times. His companion was unharmed.

The assailant then fled, along with his two companions. The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police recovered from the scene four fired cartridges of .45 caliber pistol.

Tacaca said the perpetrators were reportedly tailing the victim from Vallehermoso town.

Police are eyeing grudge as the motive of the incident but they are also considering the incident as work-related.

The Norppo director said the victim recently reported to the police that he had threats.

Tacaca also said they are looking into the complaints filed against the victim regarding work but they cannot elaborate on that matter yet.

The investigation is ongoing.
