Bulldogs top one-day event

THE Bulldogs team howled the loudest to rule the Matatag Cargo One-Day Softball League at the Adventist Academy Cebu Sports Field in Bulacao, Talisay City last Nov. 18.

The one-day league, backed by Matatag Cargo, Freddie Rapyon, Leo Ortega, Dwight Damalerio and Marlon Cabrera to help boost the dying sport in Cebu attracted four teams--Shenica, Bulldogs, Maghaway and Quadra.

In the morning games, Shenica routed Maghaway, 22-15, while the Bulldogs ran over Quadra, 17-3.

In the afternoon games, Maghaway eked out a close 13-12 win over Quadra to take third place, while the Bulldogs had an easier time with Shenica in the championship game, 9-5, to take top honors.

In the individual awards, Paul John Unabia got the homerun king title, while Gilbert Pitogo nabbed the most RBIs. Jay-R Velasquez won the best hitter award, while Christian Cabusas was the leader in stolen bases. Leo Ortega also won the best pitcher award. (ML)
