Manhunt continues for suspects in Deloso ambush

INVESTIGATORS are still facing a blank wall on the identity of the two motorcycle-riding suspects responsible for the attempt on the life of Superintendent Michael John Deloso.

Superintendent Mardy Hortillosa II, spokesperson of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo), said authorities are considering all angles including personal and work-related to determine the motive of the ambush try.

He said investigators do not have leads yet as to the identity of the two armed men who waylaid Deloso in broad daylight at the provincial capitol road corner Luna streets, this city, Tuesday morning.

Deloso, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds, survived the ambush and is recuperating in the hospital.

"Tanan angle gitutokan pero wala pay specific kay wala pami evidence nga maka-conclude nga mao gyud ni nga angle pero apil na niini ang personal ug work-related,"Hortillosa said.

Hortillosa said there were prior incidents that Deloso encountered related to his work and personal life according to the wife. But he refused to elaborate further so as not to jeopardize the probe.

"Ang wife nagmention nga naay mga insidente nga na-encounter si Supt. Deloso pero dili namo ma-point out directly nga mao nato ug dili pud namo mabutyag ang specific sa pagkakaron para dili mabalda ang imbigestigasyon," he added.

Hortillosa also said investigators have already secured footages of security cameras from nearby establishments which are helpful in solving the case.

He also declined to describe what was captured in the security cameras.

Meanwhile, Governor Yevgeny Emano has condemned the incident and called on the leaders of the city and Cocpo officials to strengthen public security and safety on the city streets.

Emano also urged the city government to install security cameras in the different corners of the city and have the traffic lights' camera functional so it can help solve crimes swiftly.

"I think they just need to strengthen intelligence and keep CDO safe because if bad elements can attack in capitol premises then so much more in areas that are less populated," Emano said.
