RESIDENTS and officials of Jipapad town in Eastern Samar have asked for help from the National Government as the municipality remained isolated Thursday, November 22, a day after Tropical Depression Samuel hit the province.

Former mayor now Eastern Samar Board Member Joji Montallana said many of the residents are asking for food, adding that the massive flooding in the area has displaced 2,557 individuals.

The supplies and prepositioned relief goods were also soaked in floodwaters that reached seven meters high, she added.

Montallana said that as of Thursday afternoon, they do not have food, clean water, electricity and cellular phone signal, prompting her to drive a motorcycle to the municipality of Lapinig in Northern Samar to make phone calls and ask for help.

The official added that their town has no evacuation center. (SunStar Philippines)
