7 nabbed in anti-drug operations

AUTHORITIES have arrested seven drug personalities in separate drug busts and seized some P150,000 illegal drugs in Zamboanga Peninsula.

Arrested were the following: Joven Enriquez, Kevin Narzabal, Jurent Lanit, Elrey Boy Alferez, Jonathan Laurence Garingo, John Paul Abalon, and James Raymond Laput.

Chief Inspector Arlan Delumpines, chief of the Police Station 7 in Zamboanga City, said Enriquez was arrested in a drug bust around 2 p.m. Thursday, November 22, in Pasonanca village.

Delumpines said that Joseph Jalon, the companion of Enriquez and the target of the anti-drug operation, eluded arrest.

The police official said Enriquez yielded some P30,000 worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as “shabu,” packed in six medium and one small sizes heat-sealed plastic sachets.

He added that the drug bust was launched after days of surveillance on the illegal drug trade of Enriquez and Jalon.

Chief Inspector Joseph Ortega, Dipolog City police chief, said Narzabal was arrested by joint team of policemen and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in the village of Sta. Filomena, Dipolog City.

Ortega said seized from the possession of Narzabal were some P70,000 worth of dried marijuana leaves and plants, P500 marked money, P140 proceeds money, and several illegal drug paraphernalia.

He added that Lanit, Alferez, Garingo, Abalon, and Laput, were arrested in another drug bust around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in Miputak village, Dipolog City.

Seized from them were P35,000 worth of suspected shabu packed in seven heat-sealed plastic sachets, P15,000 worth of dried marijuana leaves packed in six plastic sachets, and P500 marked money, he said. (SunStar Philippines)
