PNP: Deloso’s testimony needed for probe to prosper

AN OFFICIAL of the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) said on Thursday, November 22, the testimony of Superintendent Michael John Deloso is the key to identifying the brains behind the attempt on his life.

PRO-Northern Mindanao spokesperson Surki Serenas said Deloso's vital signs are already stable but he can't speak yet as of Thursday afternoon.

The intensive care unit where Deloso was recuperating from the multiple gunshot wounds he sustained is well guarded to thwart any possible assassination plot.

Deloso, the deputy chief of the Regional Police Security Management Unit (RPSMU), was waylaid by two motorcycle-riding gunmen on Tuesday at the capitol road corner Luna street, this city, while he was driving his white van.

A Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) was already formed to focus and hasten the probe.

"Investigation is ongoing. SITG "Deloso" was activated. Victim's vital signs stable despite several gunshot wounds, but still in ICU for observation. Based on his response, victim will likely survive," Serenas said.

Investigators are looking at all angles including personal and work-related to determine the motive of the ambush.

Evidences, eye witnesses and footage of security cameras secured by the police would help bring the perpetrators behind bars.

Superintendent Mardy Hortillosa II, spokesperson of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo), said Deloso's wife has mentioned cases involving the police official which might lead investigators to zero in on the investigation.

He said it might also lead to identifying persons of interest.

"Naay mga kaso nga na mention ang asawa nga posible maoy tutokan nga anggulo," Hortillosa said.

"Walay pangalan nga namention nga posible mahimong person of interest. Si Supt. Deloso ra gyud ang makasulti," he added.
