NBI awaits arrest warrant vs Freeman

AGENTS of the National Bureau of Investigation-Northern Mindanao are set to focus on finding Mark Freeman, the brains behind the Ploutos Coins investment scheme, once arrest warrant will soon be issued by the court.

NBI-Northern Mindanao director Lawyer Patricio Bernales Jr. said agents have begun tracing the whereabouts of Freeman while facilitating the filing of more cases.

"Ang atong concern karon is filing sa mga cases. Pag mogawas na ang warrant that's the time siguro nga we will concentrate sa iyang whereabouts kay naa naman ta legal order to arrest," Bernales said.

Bernales said the NBI-Northern Mindanao has already filed more than 10 syndicated estafa charges against Freeman and his cohorts.

He said more than 50 investors have already sought assistance from the NBI-Northern Mindanao and more are expected to come.

"Last 2 weeks lang I received a complaint from as far as Caraga pero they contracted the services of Freeman in CDO," Bernales said.

"Ang pag-file nato is grupo ang uban individual depende pero kada moabot nga complaint atong gi-imbestighan then we filed kung kompleto na ang papers," he added.

Bernales said some complainants have invested P300,000 while others put millions of pesos to Freeman's Ploutos Coins.

He said it is also important for the victims to include in the complaints not only Freeman but all personalities involved.

Bernales said Freeman's Ploutos Coins can be considered as an "investment scam."

It can be recalled that a group of policemen including a high-ranking official and two teachers have pressed charges against Freeman before the City Prosecutors Office last month.

This after Freeman failed to make good of his promise to return the money of the investors last September.

The police official, who refused to be identified, said they could no longer reach Freeman and the checks worth millions of pesos issued by Freeman all bounced.
