SHANGRI-LA’S Mactan Resort and Spa Cebu celebrated its silver anniversary by pulling out all the stops.

The celebration began with welcome cocktails at the Ocean Pavilion. While guests indulged at a champagne bar and beer bar at the garden, fireworks illuminated the sky just as Mariah Carey’s song “Dreamlover” was playing, the song that hit number one on the Billboard Top 100 when the resort opened its doors last Oct. 23, 1993.

The festivities continued at the Marquee where black and silver accents decked the place along with this eye-catching chandelier planted in the middle of the venue above of the Cebu Philharmonic Orchestra.

While the musical performances filled the room, guests comprising media, top clients and loyal guests enjoyed a four-course dinner starting with kinilaw made with marinated mackerel, coconut and mango jelly, calamansi crumble and garden salad; lobster and pumpkin bisque; flame-grilled beef tenderloin and a special dessert concocted by its pastry chefs called planet MAC made with lemon vanilla bavarois sphere on a milky way mousse with Irish jelly and caramel choc crunch.

Before the night ended, complimentary stays at its sister properties in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand and the Mactan hotel itself were raffled off, followed by an after party with beats by DJ Gio and saxophone by John Walt.

For everyone who was there, it was a night of looking back on how the hotel has been a part of their lives in some ways or more. It was also a night of looking forward to making more memories with Shangri-la.
