280 sign up for Naga NAGT

SOME 300 up-and-coming and veteran triathletes are set to compete in the second leg of the 2018 National Age Group Triathlon (NAGT) on Dec. 2 in the City of Naga.

The race, organized by TSE Live Inc., was originally scheduled on Oct. 7 but was moved to Dec. 2 for the city to recover from the devastating landslide.

The organizers told SunStar Cebu that there are about 280 enlisted participants, 20 people shy of hitting the maximum number of registrants. The registration is until Saturday, Nov. 24.

At stake in the race are titles in the elite division, age-group classes and relay competition.

The event sanctioned by the Triathlon Association of the Philippines (Trap), the country’s governing body for triathlon, will shell out cash prizes for the elite winners. The elite champion will pocket P15,000, P10,000 for second place and P5,000 for third place.

The standard distance will cover 1.5-kilometer swim, 40K bike and 10K run, the sprint course will feature 750-meter swim, 20K bike and 5K run, and the super sprint route will have 400m swim, 10K bike and 2.5K run.

The City of Naga was hit by a tragic landslide on Sept. 20, burying some of the mountainside houses with at least 78 dead. RSC
