Gingoog cited as child-friendly city

THE Gingoog City Government has been declared a recipient of the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Government by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for its efforts on the development and welfare of the children.

The DILG has chosen Gingoog City as among the four cities in Northern Mindanao to receive the Seal Child-Friendly Local Government, which was received by City Social Welfare and Development Office department head Rosalinda Bucton on behalf of City Mayor Maria de Lara Guingona.

“We are not after of the award. We do what we ought to do because it is right and commendable for children’s general welfare. Our orchestrated efforts for our children resound a remarkable impact that is appreciated by the national government agency such as DILG,” Guingona said, during the turn-over ceremony of the award.

The city mayor also commended the collaboration of the City Council, particularly in legislating resolutions and ordinances that helped in the development and welfare of the children.

“This administration gratefully regards our law-makers who also consider that these children will eventually serve as future leaders of this ‘component city of Misamis Oriental,'” the City Mayor Guingona said.

Bucton, spearheading for children's welfare, on her part, expressed gratitude to the support from the “Team Guingona, Team Serbisyo,” which has given encouragement to child development workers, barangay councils, parents and stakeholders for them to achieve the recognition from DILG.

At present, Guingona has been attending to six districts of clustered children enrolling to various Child Development Centers.
