DAVAO City tourism is expected to improve while business investments are also projected to flourish with the construction of the Davao Global Township (DGT) by Cebu Landmasters Inc. (CLI) jointly ventured with YHEST Realty & Development Corp.

CLI chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) Jose Soberano III underscored the importance of having DGT for the future economic progress of Davao City.

“Davao City is the economic center of Mindanao and we are grateful for the opportunities made available by our partners, members of the Villa-Abrille family, to work in this dynamic market. We jointly envision the Davao Global Township to be the premier business district of the city in the medium term. As the city continues to progress, we also see great demand for The Paragon Davao, a new urban hub and lifestyle destination, to address the market’s evolving aspirations and goals,” Soberano said in a statement.

Yesterday, City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio graced the groundbreaking ceremony and said DGT can aid in gearing the city to future developments and human resources.

“This project is our proof of trust to Cebu Landmasters as we welcome this initiative that shall lead to the opening of more access roads linking McArthur Highway to Quimpo Boulevard, and connecting water impounding system to prevent flooding in the Matina area, generate jobs and business activities and diversify the products and services offered in Davao, ” Duterte-Carpio said.

The city mayor added though infrastructure developments are already coming in Davao, the environment is still at a top priority to consider.

“But as the country greets this development projects, it is worth noting how the industry has recognized in making communities truly green by focusing on energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality, material selection, sustainable site development, and water savings,” Duterte-Carpio said.

DGT will commence Phase 1 of the 22-hectare global township located in Matina that will feature an office tower, two residential towers, retail buildings, a Cineplex mall, and a convention center. These will yield a gross floor area of 93,000 square meters (sqm) at an estimated cost of P10 billion and are set for completion by the end of 2022.
