Natonin ends search and retrieval in Banawel

AFTER 23 days, search, rescue and retrieval operations at Sitio Ha’ rang, Banawel, Natonin, Mountain Province was finally terminated with six out of the 26 still yet to be found.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) of Mountain Province stated the move to dissolve or terminate the Incident Command Post (ICP) was agreed upon by all concerned sectors.

This, however does not signal the end of the search for all who still want to continue with the search and retrieval although a team will still be tasked to continue the search.

According to the PDRRMC, those who would still want to continue the search will be most welcome provided all search and rescue volunteer teams will have to register at the Natonin Municipal Police Station for monitoring purposes before being accompanied by the police at the site.

On Saturday, a “tengaw” or “ngilin”– a customary holy day for the locals or a time slated as a day of mourning will be held in Barangay Banawel.

The Day of Mourning at Natonin started at 12 midnight of Friday until 12 midnight of Saturday.

An ecumenical mass was conducted at Ground Zero in Sitio Ha’rang.
