THE City Government of Davao will accommodate non-Dabawenyo Indigenous Peoples (IPs) who will join the Pasko Fiesta celebration, said Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
“Mag-prepare pud ta sa atong mga IPs na bisita. Ang atong processing center will be the Bangkerohan gym (We will also prepare for our IPs visitors, those who are not Dabawenyos. Our processing center will be at the Bankerohan Gym),” Dutere-Carpio said last Friday, November 23.
“So magpa-process sila didto and we will accommodate them. At a lesser amount sa gifts, naa gihapon sila mauli sa ilang balay (They will process there and we will accommodate them. At least they will have something to bring back to their homes),” she added.
The mayor also said that the city has been accommodating and prioritizing IPs who are from the city and even visitors in the past years.
Meanwhile, she said that the city also prepared Pasko Fiesta for Lumad in 10 areas as the City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO) decided to bring the celebration closer to them for convenience.
“As we started na isaka ang Pasko Fiesta para sa Lumad, we made an event the Pasko Fiesta for Lumad and this will be under CSSDO,” she said, adding that from only seven areas in the previous celebrations, there will be three additional areas this year.
“Mao lang gihapon, it will be from December 1-16 and naay mga areas na lagyo, in bulk ihatag sa ila ang ilang pahalipay (The Pasko Fiesta for Lumad will be from December 1-16 and in bulk, we will give them gifts),” Duterte-Carpio said. (LHC)
