Duterte accuses Caloocan bishop of drug links

IN HIS latest tirade against Caloocan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David, President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday, November 26, claimed that the bishop is involved in rampant narcotics trade.

This allegation was made several days after the President accused David of stealing Church donations.

"David, nag-dududa nga ako bakit sige ikot ka diyan nang gabi. Duda tuloy ako, p****** i**, nasa droga ka (David, I'm suspecting why you're loitering at night). I couldn't help but think you're involved in illegal drugs)," Duterte said in a speech delivered in Davao City.

During the inauguration of the Cavite Gateway Terminal on Thursday, November 22, Duterte claimed that he had a video clip of David taking Church donations to benefit his family.

A day after the President's statement, David denied such claim, which he said would only come from a "sick man" who does not know what he is talking about.

Duterte, in his latest speech, warned that he would not hesitate to "kill" everyone, including religious leaders, who are proven to be involved in "demonic" acivity such as illegal drugs trade.

"Papatayin ko talaga kayo. Bishop ka, magpabili ka ng droga diyan? Hindi kita pinutulan ng ulo. Walang bishop bishop sa akin, basta pumasok ka diyan, sirain mo ang Pilipino (I will really kill you. You're a bishop and you'll buy drugs? I'll behead you. I don't care if you're a bishop, when you're involved in illegal drugs. You'll ruin the Filipinos' lives)," Duterte said.

"Hindi talaga tayo magkakaintindihan diyan, sa totoo lang. Demonic oh. Kayo ang demonic diyan (We will really not understand each other, to be frank. That's demonic. You're demonic)," he added.

Duterte, who remained critical of the Catholic Church, also encouraged the Catholic faithful to just "build a chapel in your own house and pray there."

For those who are not in favor of his anti-narcotics drive, the President said they can join the religious group.

"Let this be a referendum, yung maniwala sa inyo at gusto nang walang patayan at maraming durugista, diyan kayo sa mga religious (those who believe in the Catholic Church and who do not want killings and want presence of drug personalities, join the religious)," he said.

"Kung gusto niyo ng walang durugista, patay lahat, at wala namang mag-hold up sa'yo, wala namang magsaksak sa iyo, dito kayo sa akin. Sabay tayo sa impyerno (If you don't want the presence of drug personalities, and you want them dead so no one will hold you up and stab you, join me. Let's go to hell all together)," he added.
