THE tandem of Baltaire Balangauan and Dominic Gotiong bagged the overall title in the 18th Island Tee, the annual signature tournament of the Mactan Island Golf Club in Lapu-Lapu City over the weekend.
The pair combined for 140 points in the two-man team event using the Modified Stableford Scoring System. Balangauan fired rounds of 36 and 34 for 70 points, while Gotiong made 39 and 31 also for 70 points.
The class A (0-12 handicap) title went to the duo of Pio Barandog (40-30) and Retired Colonel Elvis Jequinto (30-33) with a total of 133 points. Runner-up honors went to Andrew Cañete (33-35) and Jerome Flores (30-31) with 129 points.
The class B (13-19 handicap) crown went to the team of Retired Col. Alex Aguado (38-30) and Retired BGen Werner Elpedes (31-33) with 132 points. Runner-up honors went to Yoon Sung Hee (32-34) and Retired BGen Bam Jamorabo (33-31) with 130 points.
Julie Garcia (36-37) and Tony Garcia (35-31) combined for 139 points to win the class C (20-above handicap) title. Runner-up was the team of TSgt. Manuel Fernando (27-26) and Retired Col. Michael Nuñez (34-38) with 125 points.
In the Seniors’ division, the duo of Hospicio ‘Razi’ Razon (34-33) and Billy Price (30-30) combined for 127 points to win the crown. Rey Semilla (30-27) and Nestor Gonzales (32-33) finished as runner-up with 122 points.
In the distaff side, Ashely Llena (38-34) and Vergie Lou Hwang (24-30) shot an aggregate of 126 points to win the ladies crown. (PR)
