NGO brings relief operations to Itogon village

SOME 217 families of Sitio Garrison in Barangay Ucab, Itogon, Benguet benefited from a relief operation by non-government organization Team Fortuner Philippines on November 24.

Christian Olmo, president of Fortuner Philippines, said the team had previously conducted a tree planting activity in Baguio City, but after watching from news what happened in Benguet, he said it is proper and timely to have a relief operation.

The group donated P85,000 worth of relief packs, rice, canned goods and clothes.

Kennedy Waclin, Ucab village chief, acknowledged the group and thanked the donations, which he said will benefit the community. A certificate of appreciation was also given to the group.

At least 52 families are currently residing in Sitio Garrison evacuation center.

The outreach programs of the non-government organization started in January 2017.

Fortuner Philippines operates in different areas in the country, including Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Pampanga, Zambales, Caticlan, National Capital Region, Cavite, Batangas, Bacolod and Northern Mindanao.

Every year, four outreach programs are conducted by the group. The programs vary from medical mission, feeding program, balik eswela, to relief operations. Every member has allotted P300 per outreach.

For 2019, the team is planning an outreach in Batangas for the first quarter.

Olmo remained bullish for the group to make bigger projects and expand its activity.
