'Rosita' fatality recovered in Abra

A BODY was recovered along the Binongan River in Sitio Magappa, Alaoa, Tineg, Abra, nearly one month after Typhoon Rosita (Yutu) passed by the Cordillera Administrative Region.

The cadaver was found in the evening of November 24 by Tolentino Blanco and barangay kagawad Haidie Limag Baldo who then reported to the personnel of Tineg Municipal Police Station.

A search and retrieval operation was executed early morning of November 25. Seven personnel of Tineg police, led by Inspector Benedict Calado, Blanco, and four civilian volunteers went to the area and recovered the body.

Investigation revealed that the victim, identified as Venancio Vicencio Villaruz, 58, a carpenter and resident in Poblacion, Lacub, Abra, was reported missing in the evening of October 30 after he was swept along the Binongan River, Poblacion, Lacub, Abra, during the onslaught of Rosita.

It was the victim's brother, Onofre Vicencio Villaruz, 51, a farmer and resident of Poblacion, Tayum, Abra, who identified the cadaver.

As of Tuesday, November 27, the body is still in Barangay Alaoa, Tineg, Abra, awaiting the arrival of a service that transport the victim home.
