DAYS before the prestigious Miss Silka Philippines 2018 pageant, Kagay-anon beauty Ma. Reshia Mae Go, who will be representing Northern Mindanao, is already physically and mentally fit to take on the competition.
With her mentor, Ceejay Pasco, who is also her make-up artist and Q&A coach from the beauty camp #TeamAmega, Go is looking forward to take the crown and become the Miss Silka Philippines 2018.
Reshia is a 19-year-old first year college student, taking up Development Communication in Xavier University.
She won the Miss Silka Northern Mindanao 2018 held last September 22, which gave her the chance to compete in the national pageant in Metro Manila on November 30.
According to Go, the Miss Silka is not the first pageant she competed. She was crowned as Binibining Libona Diamond 2017 and second runner up in Laga Ta Bukidnon 2018.
She also shared how it was her mother who pushed her into joining pageants as she was not interested in participating in such competition before.
"Dili nako type ang pageant sa una," Go said, adding that she was more interested in playing soccer rather than taking part in beauty pageants.
Pasco, who was her mentor ever since she started her beauty pageant journey, said he saw how Go has improved from the shy girl into an independent woman.
"I like to start off with our very first pageant, yung nangyari last year in Binibining Libona. The first time we had our training, she could barely utter a single word. Grabe yung anxiety nya. Like, kapag binato mo yung questions sa kanya, it will take a while for her to be able to construct [an answer]," Pasco said.
"As days and months and years pass by, I really saw her improvement. She has become independent right now. Kaya nya nang sumagot kahit hindi mo na sya susubuan ng answer," he added.
Go, for her part, has expressed gratitude towards her mentor, especially in helping her get out of her shell.
"I'm so thankful. It’s true that I can't even utter a single word. I could really say that he made me go out of my comfort zone," Go said.
Mercy Gojol, Reshia's mother, on the other hand, has expressed amazement and is proud of her daughter for all she achieved in her journey in the Miss Silka pageant.
"Kami mismo, na-amaze mi sa iyahang naabtan. Its because there is really God. Through prayers nga kami, as parents, ang amo gyud gihimo is prayer. nagsalig mi sa iyahang mentor, bilib mi sa iyahang mentor," Mercy said.
As preparation for the upcoming Miss Silka Philippines 2018, Go has undergone various training for her walk, her presentation in the talent competition, and the question and answer part of the pageant.
She also went to the gym to maintain her body figure.
As the representative for Northern Mindanao, it is expected for Go to feel the pressure, however, this will not hinder her from taking the crown and becoming a beauty queen.
"I always just think na to be myself and just enjoy the pageant because I know God has plans for me and Sya na ang bahala. And just do my very best," Go said.
Reshia also shared her plans once she will be crowned as Miss Silk Philippines 2018.
"Aside from I want to be an ambassadress of their product, I want to inspire other young ladies to go out of their comfort zone and make them realize that there is so much more to life that they can do than just staying in one corner and not doing anything remarkable in their life," Go said.
"I want to be a living testimony that we should not limit ourselves to the usual things that we do, rather we go beyond our limits and exceed expectations," she added.
At present, Reshia together with her family and mentor, are in Metro Manila for the Miss Silka Philippines 2018 pageant. The coronation day will be held on November 30.
