THE City Government of Montevista will highlight 24 world famous church structures in this year’s Diwanag Festival on December 1 to 26.
Municipal Mayor Eutropio Jayectin, during the Kapehan sa Dabaw at The Annex of SM City Davao on Monday, said that the church structure entries is given up to 21 square meters and the minimum height requirement of 12 feet.
Jayectin also said that the activities for the Christmas celebration in Montevista are conceptualized for tourism purposes and for Montevistahanons to have something to look forward to every year.
“Ang purpose namin is [to make known] itong aming festival. And this year we wanted na makilala din sa iba,” Jayectin said.
In 2016, the municipality held a Christmas celebration with a theme, “Let’s tour around the world” where the famous landmarks in the world such as the Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal, among others were highlighted.
Jayectin also said that in 2017, they held an event dubbed as “Christmas Village" wherein Christmas villages in the United States of America were shown.
“We are inviting everyone to witness our celebration. Diwanag festival is a three-time placer of the best creative celebration,” Assistant Municipal Administrator Edwin Antia said on Tuesday, November 27.
He also said that there are other activities and surprises that the municipality has prepared such as fireworks display and Christmas tree contest.
This year, the budget of the festival is P4 million from the municipality and private partners.
Meanwhile, Jayectin assured locals and tourists that the security is already in place.
