Panthers stay unbeaten in Elite Basketball Club

THE former champion Panthers kept its record unscathed while handing the Lions its first loss in the Elite Basketball Club-Cebu City Season 13.

The Panthers clawed the Lions, 80-76, in a nip-and-tuck affair at the Visayas Glass Gym in Guadalupe, Cebu City, Friday night, Nov. 23, to remain the only undefeated team this season thus far.

Mark Panerio scored 22 points, Kyle Co chipped in 11 and Stephen Sanchez added 10 for the Panthers, which improved to 5-0 (win-loss) card through Week 5.

Dexter Cabasan exploded for 34 points, Sam Cadavos handed 16 points and Jon Chua chipped in 12 points, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Lions’ first setback after five games.

The Stallions, on the other hand, puled off an upset for its first win in the season with a thrilling 82-80 escape over Rams. Trystan Chu scored 29 points, while Mark Alolor and Ivan Qu handed 14 points each for the winning team.

The Stallions hold a 1-4 record, while Rams fell to 3-1 card.

Meanwhile, the other two games ended in huge blowouts. The Eagles soared high with a 91-70 routing over Tigers, while Sharks beat the Mambas, 87-59.

Ryam Llanos led the Eagles with 31 points from 9-for-12 shooting beyond the arc, while Prince Malana and Jeff Labrador combined for 47 points for Sharks. (RSC)
