ANOTHER suspected drug pusher was killed in an anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay San Roque, Talisay City Wednesday dawn, November 28.
Eugene Cabando was the eighth suspected drug pusher killed in an anti-illegal drug operations in Talisay City in less than a week.
Police said anti-illegal drug operatives of the Talisay City Police Station and personnel of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion- Central Visayas led by Superintendent Marlu Conag conducted a drug bust in the said barangay after receiving reports of Cabando's illegal activities.
Cabando allegedly drew his 38 caliber pistol and fired at the officers who posed as buyers in the middle of their illegal drug transaction.
A shootout occurred between police operatives and Cabando, which resulted in the latter's death.
After the operation, police said they recovered Cabando's gun and 57 small packs of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) from the suspect's body.
In an interview, Conag claimed Cabando was involved in the shooting incident in Sitio Mananga 2, Barangay Tabunok on Friday, November 23, wherein one of his officers, Police Officer 1 Jaylord Joseph Taping, was hurt.
Conag said that Cabando was also an "associate" of slain drug suspect Arnel Hernani and a certain Dugyot particularly in their illegal drug activities in Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City.
