Indonesia, Malaysia contingents visit Mindanao

THE Philippines showcased the rich culture of the Filipino during the cultural night of the 4th Trilateral Port Visit and Maritime Training Activity, which the Armed Forces of the Philippines Joint Task Force Indomalphi is hosting.

The cultural night was held at the Eisenhower Hall of the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) headquarters in Zamboanga City on Tuesday, November 27, hours after the arrival of the Tentera Nacional Indonesia (TNI) and Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN)

ships.

The arrival of the contingents from Indonesia and Malaysia marked the start of the 4th Trilateral Port Visit and Maritime Training Activity, which will end on November 30.

Ensign Jesca May Viduya, Naval Forces Western Mindanao information officer, said in a statement that the El Vinta Cultural Dance Troupe performed the different Filipino folk dances such as Tinikling, Pandango sa Ilaw and El Chavacano Dance.

Viduya said the Universidad de Zamboanga Dance Troupe also performed the Vamos A Zamboanga, Belly Bollywood, Pangalay Hapatong and Janggay dances.

Viduya said the Cantamos Chorale of Zamboanga Polytechnic College sung the Filipino song “Tayo’y mga Pinoy”, the Indonesian Song “Yamko Rambe” and Malaysian Song “Bersama-sama”.

She said the Indonesian and Malaysian participants also experienced how to perform the traditional Filipino folk dance “Tinikling”.

The activity is being held under the Trilateral Cooperative Arrangement (TCA) entered into by the three countries to address criminality at the common maritime border.
