12 NPA rebels surrender

TWELVE New People’s Army (NPA) rebels surrendered on November 26 in the towns of Kapai and Tagoloan, Lanao del Sur.

Lieutenant Colonel Jayson Jumawan, Army’s 82nd Infantry Battalion commander, said in a statement that the surrenderers also turned over a .30 Carbine rifle and a caliber 45 pistol.

He said they were part of the NPA’s organizing group. They have been placed under custodial debriefing to determine the extent of the group’s influence.

Major General Roseller Murillo, Army’s 1st Infantry Division commander, commended the efforts of the troops that led to the surrender of the rebels.

He vowed that the campaign against the NPA will remain relentless and will continue to insulate communities from their terroristic activities.
