THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 7 will start closing the northbound lane of the Mananga Bridge 2 in Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City on Friday, November 30, to make way for its much-needed rehabilitation.

Roger Villaver, City of Talisay Traffic Operations Development Authority (CT-TODA) head, said they will start putting up advisories and signages within the Mananga Bridge Thursday, November 29, concerning its closure on Friday.

Starting 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, vehicles six wheels and above are prohibited from passing by the southbound lane of the Mananga Bridge.

But it will be opened to heavy vehicles from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Villaver said they will be deploying 125 enforcers within the Tabunok area to manage the traffic situation once they start closing the bridge.

Since the northbound lane of the bridge will be closed for repairs, the southbound lane will be open to two-way traffic.

Villaver advised motorists from Southern Cebu or from Cebu City to use the Cebu South Coastal Road along the South Road Properties (SRP) to avoid getting stuck in traffic at the Natalio Bacalso Avenue.

For vehicles from Barangay Lagtang in Talisay City proceeding towards Southern Cebu, they are advised to exit towards Rabaya Street, which leads to the CSCR.

The same route applies for vehicles who want to get to Barangay Lagtang from the CSCR.

Villaver expects that the city will experience slight traffic congestion in Tabunok once DPWH starts its repairs on the bridge.

The DPWH 7 also said that the rehabilitation of Mananga Bridge’s northbound lane will take three to four months. (HBL of Superbalita Cebu)
