Pacete: Immorality in our education system

PHILOSOPHERS believe that education sanctifies a man. Education separates the idiots from the geniuses. And, the teachers are the pillars of education. Teachers don’t just transform personalities but they build nations civilized nations.

Civilization makes us aware that mankind is capable of making worthy things.

Education starts at home, the schools make follow up, and the community ultimately becomes the biggest university of life where learners begin to understand a crazy society like ours.

Immorality is one factor that hinders education. Immorality is not just on sexual behavior that the child experiences when one of his parents misbehave sexually. The poor child may become a product of a broken family of broken education.

If your parish priest is a gambler, a beer drinker, a womanizer, an opportunist, or he has all those qualifications, he may give us the wrong gospel education and he will create moron parishioners. The influence of the priest, pastor, minister or any church leader will cause a big impact in the community of God where he serves. The parishioners should also pray hard and discipline the abusive servants of God.

The school is the institution where our children stay longer preparatory, kinder, primary, secondary, and college.

Students in private schools are paid by their parents. Students in public schools are scholars - government scholars. Only very few have realized that. The budget allotted to them and the salaries of their teachers come from us, the taxpayers.

That could be the reason why we need to keep an eye on public schools. It is not good to see a teacher who is pregnant but no husband. It is not good to see a male principal to consider one of the qualifications of a female applicant to have a one night stand with him or collect the first two months salary of the incoming teacher. That could be the thing of the savage past but our society could be crazy.

We would like to believe that the position of the teacher is not for sale. Principals, supervisors, and superintendents know that. An education official is not supposed to borrow money from the teacher and the amount could just be easily forgotten or could just be added to plus factor. Favoritism is not just a practice of subject teachers or class advisers - supervisors have also their pets who could be promoted to Teacher 1, Teacher 2, Master teacher 1, Master Teacher 2.

Promotions are sometimes based on how much you mean to me? That is another crazy idea!

Top education officials said that students and classroom teachers should not contribute but who can stop the principal or the supervisor in telling their subordinates that those who contribute will be given plus factor. Many cannot swallow this - hook, line, and sinker. If you think this is crazy, exempt yourself. You are not amoral.
