A MAYORALTY candidate in Cagayan de Oro City has withdrawn from the race Thursday, November 29, the last day of substitution of candidates.

Candy Darimbang, a mayoral candidate under Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, will instead serve as campaign manager of the party.

Darimbang said she is offered a part in the Marawi rehabilitation, which she is considering.

"Dili ni makaapekto sa among party kay gipasabot man nako sila, I will be behind them still during the campaign period," she added.

Darimbang said this was however not a last minute decision. She has been thinking of withdrawing for about a month now.

"I will devote my time instead to campaign for my husband who is still running as city councilor in the 1st district," she added.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has set the last day of filing for substition on Thursday. But Darimbang instead withdraw from the candidacy and did not endorse someone as her subsitute, leaving her party without a mayor.

City Comelec officer lawyer Ramil Acol said they will submit Darimbang's withdrawal from the candidacy to its national office.
