SCIENCE is defined as “a branch of knowledge or study dealing with a body of facts or truths systematically arranged and showing the operation of general laws: the mathematical sciences. Systematic knowledge of the physical or material world gained through observation and experimentation.”
The science of sports is mostly involving the laws of Physics which helps in understanding many outside dynamics of a sport while Physiology understands our body functions.
Biology and Chemistry comes into play in unique ways as well as it evaluate environment and explains the effects and its complexity. Even topics like meteorology and earth science can be explained using sport.
In lay man’s term, sports as it is ventured or performed of participated by human is a holistic work of science or science episode that is manifested by the athletes and the influences that contributes to their movements or performances. From the first stage of training up to their respective development and eventual success in competitions to include even their unfortunate losses, are all part of the science that evolves in the whole life of the athlete and his discipline. The changes of routines, additions, adjustments and or improvements are all part of the said science it evolves, it improves or it remains stagnant depending on the circumstances.
Sports may look like physical, more than mental, or more than anything as perceived by many is of course a false theory or observation. The things involved in sports could wow someone that is not familiar on what really is going on in sports.
Athletes don’t just gather and compete, athletes don’t just join and win or lose, athletes prepare or train and athletes win or loss. At some point they come to compete and win and go back to training and then compete again like a loop. Sometimes they train or prepare and compete and loss and go back to train again and compete and may loss again then go back to train and compete once more until they win or unfortunately loss again. That simple loop involves science, not to mention other circumstances that affects their physical, mental and spiritual training, those involved like coaches, trainers, managers, their family and co-athletes are all part of the holistic science that is the science of sports.
