Bacolod vice mayor backs deployment of more troops in Negros Occidental

BACOLOD City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran expressed his support on the order of President Rodrigo Duterte to deploy additional troops in Negros Occidental.

Familiaran said on Thursday, November 29, that in Bacolod City, the presence of police in the streets is a big help to reduce the crime incidents.

“There’s no problem on it if we will have more police personnel here, but the military force should stay on their barracks while the police matters should be endorsed to the police force,” he said.

Familiaran noted that the Bacolod City Police Office was also conducting checkpoint operations in various barangays.

He added that as long as it could not create fear to the public, there is no problem with it.

Duterte also ordered the additional deployment of police and military forces in Negros Oriental, Samar, and the Bicol region to suppress lawless violence and acts of terror and prevent such violence from spreading and escalating elsewhere in the country. (MAP)
