Organic fest generates P350,000 on first day

THE 13th Negros Island Organic Farmers Festival had a total sale of P350,687.75 on its opening day on Wednesday, November 28, according to the festival committee.

The total amount includes the generated income from the different booths and exhibits at the Provincial Capitol grounds in Bacolod City.

Fresh farm products were recorded the highest sales amounting to P198,257; others were plants and herbs -- P22,595; processed products -- P96,066.75; environment-friendly handicrafts -- P4,055; agri-inputs -- P2,635; food sales -- P24,734; and other certified organic products -- P2,345; and other services -- P7,225.

The four-day event highlights the showcase of organic products and by products, as well as sustainable innovations and technologies practiced by different organic farmer-producers and organic advocates.

This year’s theme is “Organic Agriculture: The Greening of Negros Island.” (PR)
