Hundreds flock to SEA Games countdown celebration in Clark

SOME 400 delegates flocked to Clark Freeport as the start of the one-year countdown celebration for the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games took place here Friday, November 30.

The event, organized by Philippines SEA Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC), was attended by past and present Philippine athletes, SEA Games Federation from all participating countries, key national, provincial and local government officials and dignitaries from ten participating nations.

As the host country for the upcoming SEA Games, a 15-meter tall, equivalent to four-story building countdown clock was constructed at the Bayanihan Park here.

The said structure consists of eleven circles representing the eleven countries of Southeast Asia. These include the Philippines, Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The colors incorporated in the countdown clock represent the different colors of the country’s flag. One of the circles with diameter of 3.7 meters will be fitted with an LED display board back to back to show the clock and videos particularly of the SEA Games. (PR)
