PWD job fair to offer 1,000 jobs

MORE than 1,000 jobs are set to be offered by the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) to qualified applicants during the job fair exclusively set for persons with disability (PWD) on December 5 at the Quezon City Hall.

Dole said the day-long event, set in time for the 85th founding anniversary of the department, will offer job openings from different sectors.

Job openings include those in the business process outsourcing, electronics, advertising, hotel, health and wellness, travel, media, logistics, manpower and security services, sales, property management, pharmaceutical, and memorial services, among others.

“Persons with disability may pre-qualify for available positions or employers who wish to participate in the job fair may register at philjobnet.gov.ph,” Dole said.

Based on Republic Act 10524, agencies of government are mandated to employ persons with disability to comprise at least one percent of their employees, while it provides incentives to private firms with more than 100 employees who take in disadvantaged persons into their workforce.

Dole said all local government units in Metro Manila were invited to participate by sending qualified persons with disability from their respective communities to the job fair.

This is aside from the companies that were invited to participate by Dole.

Dole said the Rotary Clubs from District 3830 mobilized more than 30 employers from various parts of Metro Manila to the activity.

Aside from jobs, the special event will also provide skills and livelihood opportunities to be provided by the Department of Trade and Industry and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
