THE Police Regional Office Cordillera (PRO)-Cordillera took pride on a female officer who returned a lost sling bag containing over P40,000 to a senior citizen.

George Walsiyen, 78, a resident of Betag La Trinidad, Benguet, was about to pay his taxes on November 27 at Landbank La Trinidad when he noticed his sling bag was missing.

His bag contained money amounting to P39,984.75, an eyeglass, two ballpens, and a cellular phone.

Chief Inspector Thrislyn Sagpaey of PRO-Cordillera was about to enter Health 101 Restaurant in Km. 6, La Trinidad, Benguet on the same day when she found the sling bag in front of the establishment.

Sagpaey tried to locate the possible owner but nobody around the place seemed to be the owner.

Fortunately, she found a cellular phone inside the bag and was able to contact the owner’s son and told him his dad’s bag is with her and he can claim it from her.

The following day, Walsiyen went to the Regional Operations Plans Division, where Sagpaey is assigned, to claim his bag.

Walsiyen offered Sagpaey P2,000 reward but the police officer refused to accept it.

“The act of Sagpa-ey is indeed one of the many Philippine National Police’s good deeds that need to be shared and emulated by all. We commend the rightful deed of an honest cop and we hope that said good deed will inspire other personnel to do the same given the situation,” PRO-Cordillera Director Rolando Nana said.
